This buckle is the latest offering from AustriAlpin in the Cobra series of buckles. The term "hybrid" comes from the fact that it is a female 1" fixed half combined with a male 1.5" adjustable half to create this new product. Together they create the opportunity to offer you a belt that will rarely, if ever, needs to be un-threaded from the buckle. The 1" female side of the buckle is sewn permanently onto the belt and threads through MOST jean/pant belt loops. I have been wearing my prototype belt for several months now and have not removed the male side of this buckle to facilitate threading... I have been able to thread the female side of the buckle/belt through my pants belt loops from at least three different pant manufacturers. The convenience is unmatched in an everyday quick release gun belt!
